Every House has its own story – and this summer’s biggest news is how excited we are to share two more with you. The House Collective is growing, and soon we will be arriving in the Shenzhen Bay as well as Tokyo, Japan.
As we wait to welcome you there, the tail-end of summer is launching us into autumn with a new exhibition by artist Kang Jing at The Opposite House, a collaboration between Sui Tang Li and luxury silverware brand Christofle at The Middle House, and another green initiative with our Eco-Cup at The Temple House.
The next chapters of our story are coming soon to Shenzhen Bay (2025) and Tokyo (2027). With our distinctive design and people first-approach, the new Houses will be destinations filled with immersive art and culture, inspiring dining offerings and uniquely imagined experiences that are signatures of The House Collective.
Set on the site of the iconic Tokyu Department Store’s flagship store, the House will be part of the Shibuya Upper West Project that sits at the edge of the fashionable Shibuya district, the affluent residential area of Shoto and the cultural neighbourhoods of Kamiyamacho and Tomigaya. Here, the bustling thrum of the city will fall away as art, culture and elevated experiences create an extraordinary and inspiring stay for guests. The project aspires to become Tokyo's first true “Urban Retreat" concept – an enclave of peace and relaxation in the bustle of the city. A destination in the heart of Tokyo that combines luxury hotel and residences with high quality retail, unique dining, art and cultural facilities.
We’re welcoming autumn at our House of Art with a new exhibit. On view in the Atrium until October 16, “Angular” by Kang Jing speaks the artist’s view of nowadays society through a sculptural exploration with nature-inspired forms.
Throughout the ages, Chinese art and society have explored the relationship between nature and people, and between nature and architecture. Delving further into these connections, the exhibition showcases sculptures that seem to grow and continue with the shape of a tree or a branch. Posing the ongoing question of how nature retains coherence in a modern, urban environment, Kang Jing draws parallels with the human predicament.
The art of the bite and l’art sur la table meet for the first time at The Middle House. Sui Tang Li and French luxury silverware brand Christofle are coming together for special limited-time lunch and dinner menus inspired by the concept of reinvention. Available until October 31, the collaboration is served in beautiful Christofle pieces and its new Mood Asia collection that fuses Asian aesthetics with French table art.
Chef Tony Ye has designed a menu around Christofle’s renowned silverware, with each course being a visual and culinary work of art. Housed in an ovoid mirror-steel case featuring sleek, elegant curves, the Mood Asia collection has been tailored especially for Asian cuisine. The tableware offers a striking backdrop for dishes featuring seasonal ingredients such as puréed cauliflower topped with lily bulb and caviar, baked abalone and foie gras Wellington, and fragrant steamed rice in a mini pumpkin with wok-fried peas and pork belly.
This fall at The Upper House, we are correcting wrongs – wellness edition. With UP!health, we are bringing a team of registered Chiropractors to correct misalignments and alleviate back pain – particularly useful given Hong Kong desk jobs. With Aldo Privileggi, we are bringing a new form of therapy to our House – Quantum Healing Hypnosis Therapy; known to help discover the root cause of physical and emotional pain, and bring relief, peace, and a state of relaxation.
